History of SONOCO Group in a few dates

Creation of Société Générale d'Investissement (SGI).
1999
Creation of AM TRANSIT company.
2004
Creation of SONOCO Group. It is the result of the success of Société Guinéenne d'Investissement (SGI).
2004
Growth and diversification of its activities. SONOCO Sarl changes its legal form to become the SONOCO Group SA.
2009
The SONOCO Group established Global Investmentand Construction(GIC), a subsidiary in real estate.
2011
The Guinean government decided to sell three historic hotels from its portfolio. GIC expresses interest and becomes successful bidder of the former Hotel Niger, located in the heart of the business district of the capital Conakry.
2012
The SONOCO Group makes the strategic decision to switch from import to production, building a flour mill "Les Moulins d'Afrique". With a production capacity of 900 T/day, the new industrial unit provides an appropriate response to the excessive dependence of the domestic market vis-à-vis imports. The plant was inaugurated in 2014 by His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco and Pr. Alpha Condé, President of the Republic of Guinea.
2013
Creation of Nouvelle Compagnie d'Investissement (NCI), the Finance division, in charge of acquisitions and equity investments in companies. Since its inception, the NCI has repurchased the Nestlé Guinée plant and a steel production unit (corrugated sheets, rebar, ...).
